Statement of Belief

‘WASPS is special because we have lovely teachers.’

— Class 2W
  • At Weston All Saints CE Primary School we believe that high expectations, together with quality teaching, encourage and enable children to work towards reaching their full potential.
  • We believe that children learn best in a warm, caring environment where every effort is made to foster strong relationships between children, adults and the community.
  • We value our strong links with Weston All Saints Church and the Christian foundation of the school is reflected in all aspects of school life.
  • We are committed to teaching children how to become responsible members of society through the combined Christian and British values of service, thankfulness, compassion, forgiveness, friendship, perseverance, wisdom, respect, truthfulness, kindness, peace, creation, trust, humility, hope, justice, endurance, reverence and koinonia (community).
  • We choose to use ability grouping for some lessons where we believe it benefits children’s learning. We believe that high achievers, as well as low achievers, can have special needs.
  • We value the additional relationships and interaction that children at WASPS experience through our partnership with Institutions of Higher Education.
  • We have a particular commitment to the Performing and Creative Arts, believing that children’s creativity should be developed to enhance their learning and their self-confidence.
  • We believe in the importance of positive self-esteem for all children.
  • We welcome children from all faiths, believing that understanding and respecting the beliefs of others is essential in our society.
  • We actively promote the use of democracy through the school council system.
  • We use every opportunity to teach children the difference between right and wrong and understand the consequences of their actions.
  • We encourage children to take increased responsibility for developing school systems and rules to benefit everyone.
